Agency Village, SD

Agency Village is a Roberts County CDP on the Lake Traverse Reservation, seven miles south of Sisseton. It is the headquarters of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate and home to Sisseton Wahpeton College, so the village's map is also a tribal-government and education map. The old agency grounds were established after the reservation was created in 1867, served as agency headquarters from 1869 to 1923, and now include the National Register-listed Sisseton Agency and Wacipi Grounds. The local calendar includes powwows, while the college's drum-shaped Song to the Great Spirit building is a recognizable landmark. Think reservation, college, agency, and wacipi grounds.
