About Ahwahnee

Ahwahnee is a census-designated place in Madera County, California, situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains west of Yosemite Forks. Developed in the 1890s as a stagecoach stop along the Raymond-Wawona road, the scenic community is home to the Ahwahnee Hills Regional Park. It also features the Wassama Round House State Historic Park, which preserves a traditional ceremonial and gathering site of the Southern Sierra Miwok people.
