Alderson, WV

Alderson straddles a scenic bend of the Greenbrier River, with the town split between Greenbrier and Monroe counties. Founded in the late 1700s around the valley's first Baptist church, the community grew up along the water. Today, the historic Alderson Bridge serves as a pedestrian walkway where neighbors stroll in the evening, fish from the banks, and take in quiet river views. It has the easygoing rhythm of a classic Appalachian river town, surrounded by rolling hills and open farmland.
