About Alexander City

Alexander City, often called Alex City, is the largest city in Tallapoosa County and one of the main gateways to Lake Martin. The lake is the town's strongest modern association, with 44,000 acres of water and hundreds of miles of wooded shoreline on the Tallapoosa River. The city was incorporated as Youngsville in 1872 and later became closely tied to Russell Corporation and Russell Athletic. Today its identity blends lake access, county commerce, and old textile-industry history.
