About Alexandria

Alexandria is a Licking County village along State Route 37, about six miles west of Granville and roughly thirty miles east of Columbus. The village was laid out in 1830, and its early crossroads sat within a landscape of farms, creeks, and wooded runs. Local history also places Alexandria in the Underground Railroad story, with freedom seekers sheltered here as they moved north. That past gives the village a deeper layer than its size might suggest.

Today Alexandria is part of Northridge Local School District, and the T.J. Evans Bike Trail brings cyclists through Licking County fields and forest. The village sits close enough to Granville, Newark, and Columbus for work, college, and larger services, while its own Main Street still serves as a stop between country roads. Denison University, Ohio State Newark, and Central Ohio Technical College are nearby institutions. Local stores and gathering spots make the center useful for residents coming in from the surrounding township. The trail parking and village streets give passing riders a reason to pause.
