Algonac, MI

Algonac sits right at the southern tip of the St. Clair River where it empties into Lake St. Clair, earning it the nickname "The Venice of Michigan." A network of canals weaves through residential neighborhoods, allowing many locals to keep a boat right in their backyards. Downtown opens straight onto the water, where you can stroll the half-mile riverfront boardwalk, grab a bite, and watch massive Great Lakes freighters glide past just yards from shore.
