Allardt is a quiet, close-knit community perched on Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau, surrounded by rolling hills and scenic highland woods. Settled in the late nineteenth century by German families, the town holds onto a peaceful, small-town atmosphere with around 550 residents. The town's marquee event comes every autumn with the Allardt Great Pumpkin Festival and Weigh-off, bringing together local food stands, classic cars, a parade, and prize-winning giant pumpkins. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate having Colditz Cove State Natural Area just two miles down the road, where a popular loop trail leads to the 60-foot Northrup Falls. With the broader Big South Fork area nearby, Allardt provides a calm, scenic home base for anyone drawn to plateau living and quick access to nature.
