About Almond

Almond is a town in Allegany County, New York, United States. The 2020 census counted 1,526 residents. Almond is on the eastern edge of the county. The town has a village also called Almond. That mix gives Almond a clear local shape within New York, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. The town is west of Hornell and is accessible from Interstate 86 at Exit 33 and New York State Route 21. The first part of the town to be settled was near Karrdale in 1796. The Almond Historical Society maintains a museum of local history at the Hagadorn House, a large yellow house on the corner by the town's only traffic light.
