Alonzaville, VA

Alonzaville is a Shenandoah County census-designated place at the meeting of Virginia Secondary Routes 623 and 604. It has also appeared as Alonzoville and Alorzaville, names that hint at the way small valley communities can carry several spellings through maps and memory. The county's historic survey places a Disciples of Christ congregation around Alonzaville, also called Fairview, in the 1850s. County planning documents have long included Alonzaville among the rural development centers: compact settlements of homes and local stores within an agricultural landscape.
