About Altoona

Altoona is a city in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, situated along the shores of man-made Lake Altoona. Founded in 1881 when the railroad established a new terminal to relieve overcrowding in nearby Eau Claire, the community of approximately 8,878 remains an active rail terminal on the Union Pacific line. Public education is primarily served by the School District of Altoona.
