About Altus

Altus is a city and the county seat of Jackson County, Oklahoma, situated in the southwestern portion of the state. Originally established as a trading post along Bitter Creek on the historic Great Western Cattle Trail, the city of approximately 18,650 is widely known as the home of Altus Air Force Base. The community also hosts Western Oklahoma State College and is served by the Altus Public School District.
