Anderson, AL

Anderson sits in northwestern Lauderdale County along Anderson Creek, near the creek's meeting with the Elk River and the Limestone County line. The town and creek took their names from Samuel Anderson, who built a gristmill here in the early nineteenth century. That mill gives the place its first local image: water moving through a small valley, turning a road crossing into a settlement inside the larger Shoals region.

Today, State Route 207 follows the creek corridor, and a two-acre town park gives residents a walking trail, pavilion, playground, and accessible recreation space. Anderson is part of the Lauderdale County school network, with older references to Anderson Junior High reflecting the community's long school history. Florence and Muscle Shoals provide larger regional services, while the creek, park, and roads keep daily life tied to the immediate town. Anderson is a small north Alabama place with a creek at its center and the Shoals within reach. The park sits just north of town and gives the creek corridor a place for everyday recreation.
