About Angleton

Angleton is the county seat of Brazoria County, south of Houston and inland from the Gulf Coast. Founded in 1890 near the county's center, it was named for the wife of the general manager of the Velasco Terminal Railway. The city has a practical courthouse-town role, but it also has a strong local event calendar, especially the Brazoria County Fair each October, billed as Texas's largest county fair. Parks, schools, and the Angleton Library round out its everyday small-city life.
