Angoon, AK

Set along the shores of Admiralty Island about 60 miles southwest of Juneau, Angoon is a quiet coastal village of roughly 350 residents in the heart of Southeast Alaska. Without roads connecting the island to the mainland, travel relies entirely on floatplanes and the state ferry. As the island's only permanent town, Angoon offers true off-road Alaska living, where travel by skiff is part of the daily routine and life moves to the rhythm of the tides.

The community is the ancestral home of the Kootznoowoo Tlingit people, and traditional subsistence harvesting shapes everyday life. Locals rely heavily on the surrounding waters and forests for fresh salmon, halibut, and wild game throughout the seasons.
