About Annex

Annex is a Malheur County census-designated place on the south bank of the Snake River, across from Weiser, Idaho. The 2020 census counted 225 residents. A bridge carrying U.S. Route 95 Spur links the two sides, while Oregon Route 201 passes just south on its way toward Ontario. Annex’s map is therefore river-shaped and road-connected, with Idaho visible across the water and the larger Oregon city 17 miles away.

The local school gives the place its most concrete institution. Annex School District 29 operates the K–8 Annex Charter School, whose building history reaches back to a 1967 replacement. The community also falls within the Treasure Valley Community College district. Annex is small, but the river crossing, school, and two-state road network give it a clear place in the western Snake River Valley. The school’s current district also offers a home-based virtual option for K–8 students. The school sits outside Ontario, but its district address and student life keep the local label in use.
