About Ansted

Ansted is a quiet mountain town of about 1,300 people sitting along Route 60 on the scenic Midland Trail. Perched high near the rim of the New River Gorge with Gauley Mountain rising in the background, the area offers a peaceful pace and stunning scenery out every window. It has the feel of a traditional Appalachian community where neighbors know each other and mountain life is front and center.

CONTENTMENT

Outdoor recreation is a major draw for locals, especially with Hawks Nest State Park right at the edge of town. You can spend weekends exploring wooded trails, taking in sweeping gorge views, or heading down to the river for fishing and boating. The town stays much quieter than nearby adventure hubs like Fayetteville, but you are still close enough to easily grab dinner, run errands, and enjoy everything the gorge region has to offer.
