Anthoston, KY

Anthoston is a quiet rural community sitting about six miles south of Henderson in western Kentucky. The area picked up its distinct name in the 1880s when the village, originally known as Bloomington, had to pick a new name for its post office. A local doctor and Greek scholar, Dr. H. H. Farmer, translated "blooming" into Greek, giving the settlement the unique moniker Anthoston, which translates to "city of flowers."

Today, Anthoston offers open farmland, quiet country roads, and a peaceful, spread-out feel centered around its historic local church. Residents enjoy generous yard space and rural privacy while staying just a ten-minute drive from shopping, dining, and schools in Henderson. Thanks to its handy position between U.S. 41 and Interstate 69, commuting into town or heading north across the river to Evansville is straightforward and quick.
