Anvik, AK

Set along the west bank of the Yukon River, Anvik is a small, quiet Deg Hit’an Athabascan village of about 70 residents. Like many remote communities in interior Alaska, daily life is deeply tied to the river, subsistence fishing, and seasonal salmon runs. The village is off the road grid, relying on bush planes, boats, and snowmachines for travel, while local children attend the pre-K through 12th grade Blackwell School. It is a peaceful, tightly knit community with strong cultural traditions and vast wilderness right at its doorstep.
