Apple Creek, OH

Apple Creek is a Wayne County village in East Union Township, named for the creek beside it and built around the old State Route 250 corridor. John Hindman laid out Apple Creek Station in 1854, and the village grew where roads, farms, and the creek met. The Apple Creek Grange Hall, built in 1879, is one of the local reminders that this was a working farm community before the surrounding Amish settlement became its defining regional connection.

An Old Order Amish community has been part of Apple Creek and the surrounding township since the mid-1800s. That presence is part of the township landscape, while the village keeps its own small civic center and historical society. The creek and Route 250 are the first bearings, with the farm roads around East Union Township filling in the rest of the map.
