Aquasco, MD

Aquasco is a Prince George's County CDP in the county's southeastern corner, surrounding Eagle Harbor and reaching the Patuxent River beside Charles County. The 2020 census counted 913 residents. Maryland Route 381, Aquasco Road, and MD 233 meet in the area, with the river forming the eastern edge. The name comes from Aquascake, a Native American name attached to a tract surveyed and patented in 1650. Aquasco's local map has a strong waterfront and African American heritage thread. Trueman Point on the Patuxent once handled farm traffic, while Eagle Harbor and Cedar Haven grew as Black summer resorts in the 1920s.

John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church, the old Woodville School, and the memory of Aquasco Speedway add more layers. Baden Elementary, Gwynn Park Middle, and Gwynn Park High serve the residential area, while Chalk Point's generating station sits near the river. Aquasco's local scoop is a rural river-edge crossroads where old farm roads, resort history, schools, and power infrastructure share one corner of the county.
