Arcade, GA

Arcade is a Jackson County city northeast of Athens and just south of Jefferson, with 1,884 residents in the 2020 census. U.S. 129 runs along the southern side of town, connecting Arcade to I-85 and Athens, and the city occupies about 8.5 square miles. Arcade was founded in 1909; its local story includes Jackson County's first school, the county's first airport, and an agricultural base represented by the wheat sheaf in the city emblem. Arcade City Park on Park Street is the city's main recreation site, with basketball courts, a baseball field, playground, restrooms, kitchen, and a covered picnic pavilion.

City Hall and the public-security building sit on Athens Highway, and the city council meets there monthly. Jefferson is close enough to supply county-seat services, while Arcade keeps its own municipal and park routines. The city is a small road-and-farm community with a practical connection to Athens and I-85, and a civic center built around its park and municipal offices.
