About Ardmore

Ardmore is the county seat of Carter County in southern Oklahoma, positioned between Oklahoma City and Dallas near the Arbuckle Mountains. It began in 1887 in Pickens County, Chickasaw Nation, with a plowed ditch serving as Main Street. Railroads, oil, ranching, and regional trade helped the city grow into a practical service center. Ardmore still has civic institutions such as its long-running Masonic lodge, plus access to Lake Murray, the Arbuckles, and the cross-border travel corridor of Interstate 35.
