Arkoe, MO

Arkoe is a village in south-central Nodaway County, Missouri, United States. The 2020 census counted 56 residents. The first community in the vicinity of Arkoe was Bridgewater, which was about a mile north of the current village. Nodaway County's first railroad, called the Missouri Valley Railroad, built two bridges across the 102 river within 1,000 feet of each on a bend in the river and the county built a road bridge between the two in the same location. The through line in Arkoe is the way its history and present-day settings remain visible on the same map. Arkoe makes the most sense through those concrete details, with its history still visible in the settings people use today. Arkoe lies in the very flat western plain of the One Hundred and Two River.
