Arlington, OH

Arlington is a Hancock County village on State Route 68, about eight miles south of Findlay. The 2020 census counted 1,492 residents. Robert Hurd’s sons built the first log cabin here in 1834, and Hurd laid out the town in 1844. That start still shows in the village’s relationship to the surrounding farm country: Arlington is small, but it sits in the work-and-school orbit of Findlay and the broader Blanchard Valley.

Arlington Local Schools are the main community institution, with the campus at the south end of the village and Arlington High School serving local students. The school district was established in 1929, and its events bring residents together for barbecues, ice cream socials, and other gatherings. The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library opened its Arlington branch in 1985, giving the village a full-service library close to home. A medical office, churches, and the Arlington Good Samaritan Center fill out the everyday map. State Route 68 points north to Findlay and south into Hancock County farm country; Arlington’s story is the steady rhythm between those two directions.
