About Armstrong
Armstrong is a city in Emmet County, Iowa, United States. The 2020 census counted 875 residents. Armstrong was originally known as Armstrong Grove. Armstrong got its start in 1892, after the construction of the railroad through that territory. The short version is that Armstrong carries an earlier story into the places people know and use now. That is the local read on Armstrong: its past remains attached to the places people use now. Armstrong was named after Thomas Armstrong, who first arrived in the area near the West Fork Des Moines River to trap.
