About Arrington

Arrington is a Nelson County CDP along US 29, where the highway meets the county's rural history. The strongest local landmark is Oakland, the former Mitchell's Brick House Tavern, a Greek Revival house built around 1838. It now holds the Nelson County Museum of History, whose exhibits cover rural electrification, Hurricane Camille, and the county's wider past. Lake Nelson, a 40-acre reservoir, adds a separate outdoor reference point, with boating and fishing access. Arrington is also home to Blue Mountain Barrel House and the Smokin' Barrel restaurant, giving the place a current stop along the highway as well as a preserved nineteenth-century one. This is a community read through its road, museum, reservoir, and county connections.
