Artesia, NM

Artesia is a city in northern Eddy County, New Mexico, located at the intersection of U.S. Routes 82 and 285 near the Pecos River. Supported by a robust economy in oil extraction, gas processing, and dairy farming, the community of approximately 12,600 hosts the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. The city is historically notable for Abo Elementary School, recognized as the nation's first fully underground public school and fallout shelter.
