Wollochet Bay Estuary Park marks the place where Artondale Creek reaches salt water. PenMet Parks describes 20 acres of bird habitat, picnic space, and bay access at high tide, preserving a visible piece of the creek-and-inlet system that shapes this part of the Gig Harbor Peninsula. The surrounding community is much more residential: Artondale's 13.38 square miles held 13,641 residents in 2020. From 2020 through 2024, owner occupancy was 88.2 percent and workers' mean travel time was 29.4 minutes. Artondale lies outside incorporated Gig Harbor, so shared facilities are distributed through Pierce County, the regional park district, schools, and nearby library services instead of a municipal center. That distributed network offers several different kinds of gathering space. Harbor Family Park has 18.7 wooded acres with primitive trails for walking and wildlife watching.

Hales Pass Park combines a ball field, tennis courts striped for pickleball, a picnic shelter, forest paths, and the two-room Arletta Schoolhouse, a 1938 Works Progress Administration building renovated in 2022. A new PenMet Parks Recreation Center opened in July 2025 and now operates seven days a week with indoor courts, open turf, fitness classes, and outdoor Harborstone Field. Programs also travel into Artondale itself: during summer 2026, the district's free Mobile Rec visited Artondale Elementary each Wednesday with organized games, activities, and lunch. The Gig Harbor branch of Pierce County Library adds year-round indoor activity, with its 2026 calendar listing storytimes, hands-on STEAM sessions, teen projects, and family programs. With no single main street, recurring public activity moves among school grounds, wooded parks, estuary access, and recreation facilities.
