Ashland Heights, SD

Ashland Heights is a Pennington County census-designated place and unincorporated community in the Rapid City area of western South Dakota. It has no city government of its own; the local map is drawn through county lines, nearby Rapid City, and two school districts—Douglas and Rapid City Area Schools. The CDP covers roughly three square miles, so its whole story is about edges: the edge of the city region, the line between school systems, and the boundary between a named community and an incorporated place.
