About Ashley

Ashley is a Delaware County village laid out in 1849 and named for L. W. Ashley, one of the original owners of the village site. The railroad between Cincinnati and Cleveland passed through the county when the village was taking shape, and High Street later became the address for homes built by local bankers and merchants. That older street pattern still gives Ashley a distinct look, with Buckeye Valley schools serving the community and the village's small center holding onto its nineteenth-century name. The interesting detail is the person and railroad behind the map, not a grand landmark.
