Askewville, NC

Askewville grew around a turn-of-the-century railroad stop in the pine woods of Bertie County, taking its name from the local postmaster, Bill Askew. Today, it remains a quiet, tight-knit crossroads community right off US 13. Locals still gather for events at the old 1930s school auditorium, which now serves as the community center, and the surrounding countryside is defined by open farmland and winding backroads. It is a slow-paced, friendly rural town where neighbors know each other and the area's timber and farming heritage is still very much a part of everyday life.
