Assumption, IL

Assumption is a small, quiet community set among the wide-open farmland of Christian County in central Illinois. The town was founded in the 1850s as an Illinois Central Railroad depot originally called Tacusah, later taking its present name from Louisiana's Assumption Parish. What started as a modest rail stop on the prairie grew into a settled grid of shady streets, family homes, and deep agricultural roots that still define the area today.
