Atwater, OH

Atwater is a Portage County census-designated place in the central part of Atwater Township, where the 2020 census counted 776 residents. The community is part of the Akron metropolitan area but keeps a rural township setting, with homes, farms, and local roads spread across the Western Reserve landscape. A post office has operated here since 1824, giving Atwater a long-running everyday institution. Both the CDP and township carry the name of Caleb Atwater, a landowner associated with the Connecticut Western Reserve.
