About Auburn

Auburn is a city straddling Barrow and Gwinnett counties, Georgia, situated forty-two miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Incorporated in 1892 following the extension of the regional railroad, the residential community of approximately 8,700 has grown as a suburban bedroom community between Atlanta and Athens. Public education for students in the Barrow County portion is administered by Barrow County Schools, with students attending Apalachee High School.
