About Auburn
Auburn is a city in Cayuga County at the north end of Owasco Lake, in New York's Finger Lakes region. The surrounding area was Haudenosaunee territory for centuries before European contact. Auburn later became known for reform, politics, and abolition-era history, with landmarks such as the Seward House Museum and the Harriet Tubman Home. The city has an older upstate feel: brick streets, institutions, lake access, and a downtown shaped by 19th-century growth rather than modern resort polish.
