Aumsville, OR

Tucked into Oregon's Willamette Valley just nine miles east of Salem, Aumsville offers a relaxed, small-town setting with an easy commute to the capital. With a population of around 4,200, the town has managed to keep its quiet, rural charm since its days as a 19th-century mill settlement. Highway 22 runs along the north side for quick travel across the valley, while Mill Creek adds a scenic touch along the southern border.

The community is popular with families thanks to the Cascade School District and a welcoming, close-knit neighborhood feel. Residents spend weekends exploring the trails at Porter-Boone Park, visiting the historic downtown museum, or heading out to the annual August Corn Festival for fresh sweet corn and family activities. It is a peaceful place to settle down if you want space to breathe without feeling cut off from city conveniences.
