About Avalon

Avalon is the only incorporated city on Santa Catalina Island and the southernmost city in Los Angeles County. It is a resort community first, with tourism-oriented businesses along the waterfront, the Green Pleasure Pier, Descanso Beach, and Catalina's museum presence shaping the visitor side of town. Away from the waterfront, the older valley floor has small houses and traditional buildings. Avalon is tiny, scenic, and unusually self-contained for a Los Angeles County city.
