About Babson Park

Babson Park is a Polk County community on Crooked Lake, a place whose names have shifted while the water stayed put. The area was first called Cody Villa, then Crooked Lake; in 1923, residents renamed the townsite Babson Park after financier Roger Babson bought 440 acres along the lake. Webber International University sits on the shoreline, and Warner University is nearby. Babson Park is central Florida with a railroad-era townsite, a lake that reclaimed its old name on official maps, and two colleges in the same small corner.
