About Bagley
Bagley is Clearwater County’s seat in northwestern Minnesota, a small city whose history is tied to timber and the railroad-era post office that opened in 1898. It was named for Sumner C. Bagley, an early lumberman along the Clearwater River. County offices and the courthouse give Bagley an administrative role for the surrounding townships, while U.S. 2 and Minnesota 92 put the city on the region’s road map.
At the city edge, Lake Lomond gives Bagley a nearby setting for recreation and gatherings. Bagley City Park covers more than 30 acres and combines a swim beach, boat access, fishing pier, sports courts, a ball field, disc golf, picnic shelters, and a seasonal campground. The campground keeps the lake at the center of summer gatherings. It is also a short drive from Itasca State Park and the Mississippi headwaters, so the city sits in a county-seat role inside a larger northwoods recreation map. The local picture is a courthouse-and-highway town with a lake park folded into the city.
