Baileys Harbor, WI

Baileys Harbor sits on the quieter Lake Michigan side of Door County, where open water views and cool summer breezes set a relaxed, unhurried pace. Named after a storm-tossed captain who took shelter in the bay back in 1848, it quickly grew into the peninsula’s very first village. Over the years, the settlement shifted from a busy lumber and shipping outpost into a charming coastal haven, marked by historic 1850s range lights and peaceful waterfront spots like Anclam Park.

Life here revolves around the outdoors and the shoreline. Residents spend weekends walking the boardwalk trails through The Ridges Sanctuary, heading out to the iconic Cana Island Lighthouse, or launching boats from the town marina. Highway 57 makes it easy to get around the rest of the peninsula, while local taprooms, seasonal markets, and quiet beaches give the town a welcoming, down-to-earth feel year-round.
