About Baneberry
Baneberry is a Jefferson County city beside Douglas Lake, built from a former spread of fields, forest, and small farms. Cliff Anderson’s development plan took shape in the 1970s; Tom and Dick Kammann established Baneberry Links in 1986, the same year residents voted to incorporate. The city received its charter in 1987, and later added a city hall, community center, and fire building. Baneberry’s name comes from the native bushes near the original town site. It is an East Tennessee lake community whose modern map grew out of a planned development.
