Bar Nunn, WY

Located about ten minutes north of Casper, Bar Nunn is a quiet, close-knit community of around 3,000 people. It has one of the more unique origins in Wyoming: the entire town was built on the site of Casper's original airport, Wardwell Field. When rancher Romie Nunn bought and subdivided the land in the 1950s, he turned the old paved runways into wide residential streets. That open layout still gives the neighborhoods a spacious, easygoing feel today.

Life here revolves around simple routines and neighborhood convenience. Kids attend Bar Nunn Elementary right in town, and several local parks offer plenty of open green space, playgrounds, and walking paths. For major employers, hospitals, and shopping, Casper is just a quick trip down Interstate 25. Winters bring the brisk winds and snow typical of central Wyoming, but residents enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, open skies, and strong sense of community.
