About Batavia

Batavia is a city and the county seat of Genesee County, New York, situated near the center of the county within the Genesee Valley. Part of the Rochester-Batavia-Seneca Falls combined statistical area, the city of approximately 15,097 takes its name from the Batavian Republic of the Netherlands, home to investors of the Holland Land Company. Public education is administered by the Batavia City School District.
