Batesville, AR

Batesville is the county seat of Independence County and one of the older service centers of northeast Arkansas. It sits on the White River, which made the city an important early port and entry point into northern Arkansas. Today Batesville works as a regional manufacturing and distribution hub for the Ozark Mountain region and northeast Arkansas. The annual Arkansas Scottish Festival adds a specific cultural note, while the river and courthouse role keep the city's older identity visible.
