About Bath
Bath is a census-designated place in Brown County, South Dakota, near Aberdeen. The 2020 Census counted 142 residents and 69 housing units across 751,305 square meters of land. The Brown County Historical Society says the railroad arrived in 1880 and the town quickly developed a hotel, depot, school, grain elevator, bakery, and general stores. A wagon bridge over the James River helped connect the town's early businesses, and Bath served as a main-line depot for speakers traveling to and from Tacoma Park. Bath's history brings together farming, rail service, river crossing, and county-seat proximity.
