About Bazile Mills

Bazile Mills is a Knox County village on Bazile Creek. The 2020 Census counted 26 residents and 13 housing units. A Nebraska historical account records Fourth of July celebrations there in 1878 and describes the community's grist mill and early woolen mill. The name likely refers to Bazeilles, France. Today Bazile Mills is one of ten communities in the Bazile Groundwater Management Area, and its water system connects to Creighton. The village's old mill history and present-day water connection join a creek-side settlement to a regional groundwater system.
