Bear Valley Springs is a guarded-gate community in Kern County, set high in the Tehachapi Mountains. Its elevation ranges from roughly 4,100 to nearly 6,900 feet, so the setting matters more than a typical subdivision label suggests. The community is part of the greater Tehachapi area and sits on land that was still considered isolated when the Fickert family settled there in 1869.
