About Beauxart Gardens
Beauxart Gardens is a Jefferson County CDP six miles southeast of Beaumont, set between the U.S. 69/96/287 roads and the airport. Before the name meant a census place, the land was used for rice farming by people from Nederland and Viterbo. During the Great Depression, the federal government turned it into a subsistence homestead colony: the 1934 plat was approved in 1935, and fifty families received small houses and plots. Beauxart Gardens is Southeast Texas with a New Deal experiment still written into the map.
