Beavercreek, OH

Beavercreek is a comparatively young city assembled from settlements much older than its 1980 incorporation. It was Greene County’s largest city when it recorded 46,549 residents in the 2020 census. Families began settling what became Beavercreek Township in the early 1800s, and the present boundaries include former communities such as Alpha, Knollwood, New Germany, and Zimmerman. The 27.3-square-mile city lies about five miles east of Dayton, with U.S. 35 and Interstate 675 providing its main regional road links. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University are nearby, and the city’s profile identifies defense and aerospace research and manufacturing among its important industries. Shared public space is spread across twenty-four parks and properties totaling 434 acres, including sixteen playgrounds.

The fifteen-mile Creekside Trail crosses Beavercreek on the regional route between Dayton and Xenia; Beavercreek Station serves trail users with parking, restrooms, a bike-repair station, and a September 11 memorial, while the wider Miami Valley network extends for more than 350 miles. Wartinger Park preserves another part of local history through four log structures moved from elsewhere in the township, herb gardens, and educational events. A replica of its 1858 Tobias-Zimmer barn opened in 2022 after the original was destroyed by the 2019 tornado. The Carol Graff Beavercreek Library adds year-round classes, technology access, and a StoryWalk at Lofino Park. The city’s recurring calendar also includes summer concerts, a July Fourth celebration, Try a Truck, and a winter-season welcome.
