About Bellfountain
Bellfountain is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Benton County, Oregon, United States. The 2023 census counted 78 residents. Bellfountain lies on Bellfountain Road north of Alpine and northwest of Monroe. Early on, the area around Bellfountain was known as Belknap's Settlement. In 1937 the basketball team at Bellfountain High School won the Oregon state championship. At this time Kenneth Litchfield was principal and Burton "Bill" Lemmon was the coach. That mix gives Bellfountain a clear local shape within Oregon, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. A post office was established in 1895 called Dusty.
